Smartphone – How often Do You Check Yours?
If you’re reading this and itching to check your smartphone, then you’ll be pleased to know you’re not alone. In a study of men and women in their late teens, 20s and 30s, published in the journal Plus one, researchers at Nottingham Trent University asked participants how many times a day they used their phone, including calls, messages, using the internet and checking the time. The average answer from participants was 37 times a day. However an app that was installed on their smartphone showed that the figure was more than twice this at an average of 85 times a day, which equates to almost six times an hour, for someone sleeping eight hours a day.
Researcher Sally Andrews, said “there is a big question about whether the amount you use your smartphone is an addiction”
