Save Time and Money at home – Plan ahead.

Research shows that the average family wastes over $2000 per year due to lack of planning. Instead of being one of those families, save money by living strategically.

At the start of the week, plan your family’s meals in order to maximise the use of food. Choose meals with the same ingredients to prevent items from spoiling in the refrigerator and going to waste.

While planning the meals for the week, use the Internet to find deals and printable coupons for the items on your list. Armed with a shopping list and matching coupons, you will make better choices at the supermarket and avoid buying things you don’t need.

Don’t let pride prevent you from shopping in the sales. Using coupons is fun because it is easy to do and saves money. When you provide for your family’s needs whilst at the same time saving money, you are being smart.

Each week, plan your family’s activities so you can identify the best ways to make use of your time as a family. Try to group car trips together in order to save time as well as money on fuel.

Organise your home so that you know where things are when needed. The ability to find what you need with ease prevents you from purchasing items that you already own simply because they have been misplaced.

Today, choose to pay attention to the small details of your affairs so that you can identify areas where time and money can be saved. Prepare for your week in advance to refrain from wasting either.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. How can I make time to plan effectively for my week?
  2. What three things can I do to save money that is currently being wasted?
  3. What could my family do with the savings from being organised?

  1. I think food is a much wasted item. I was at my moms house recently and I don’t know how many items we found in the fridge and pantry that was expired and moldy. What a waste of money!

  2. Thanks for the reminder Mike. I have been a bit slack lately with my forward planning. I usually prepare my work lunch time meals for a whole week in advance, a healthy spicy bean salad. It’s the only way I can ensure I eat a healthy meal during the week. Time to get back on track with my planning.
