Time management Skills- apply the four D’s

Today choose to make maximum use of these time management skills

By being aware of your schedule and doing what you need to do you can stay on track. You will be able to meet your time requirements by doing the things you need to do in the time allotted.

Do. Do you do the things that you are able to do yourself. Are you able to complete important tasks and keep your priorities straight for each task. This helps you to stay on track.

Delegate. When you have an abundance of tasks, you must be able to ask for help from other capable people. By entrusting tasks to others, you are able to manage your time effectively. Delegating tasks is a positive solution that helps you to stay calm and focused.

Defer. Do you take the time to re-arrange your schedule for certain tasks to make sure everything that needs to get done actually does get done? Tasks that can be put off for another day are off no concern to you today. Set them aside and make sure the more important tasks are completed first.

Drop. There are some tasks that do not need to be done at all. Are you able to identify these tasks and let them go to make way for the more important tasks.

These are all methods I use to maintain my timetable and successfully manage my time.

Do the tasks that you are able to do. In order to maintain your schedule, delegate tasks to others. Defer tasks to a different time and drop those tasks that do not need to be done.

Do you effectively use your time management skills?

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Have I done the tasks that I need to do?
  2. What tasks can I let someone else do?
  3. What tasks can wait or be dropped altogether?
