Do you wake when the alarm clock goes off and stay in bed to the last possible moment, hitting the snooze button 3 times and spending the time thinking about how bad your day is going to be because you dislike your job so much and wishing you could stay in bed all day?
If like many others, you start your day like this it will have a negative impact your entire day.
Your life could be very different if you had a morning routine that ensured a you had a positive impact on your day. But most people don’t because to ensure you have a good day you must have a solid foundation and you must prepare!!
Are you willing to do it?
Think about these ideas when developing a positive morning routine:
If you go to bed earlier, waking earlier will be easier. You’ll need a little extra time first thing in the morning to make room for your positive changes.
Get up straight away.
Don’t be tempted to lie there thinking negatively about the day, ahead, your life, your job, or anything else. It’s difficult to think negatively when you are up and doing something.
- Consider the moment the alarm sounds your Heroic Moment. Be a hero, be brave and get up before you convince yourself that another ten minutes won’t hurt.
Rehydrate before anything else.
You’ve gone anything between six and eight hours without a drink. Have a big glass of water beside the bed or leave a glass in the bathroom if that’s more convenient. Just be sure to drink water and rehydrate – you’ll feel 10 times better in 10 minutes.
Exercise little and often.
Enjoy a walk, spend 15 minutes on the treadmill, do ten pushups. It doesn’t matter what you do, just do something. Focus on getting your body moving and your breathing elevated, it endorphins that are released during your exercise will make you feel more positive.
Utilise your shower time.
Whilst showering take the time to reiterate your affirmations. Remind yourself how good you are and how wonderful your life is. It might sound like a daft idea, but believe me when I say it works, try it and see the difference it makes
Have healthy cereals or maybe some yoghurt and fruit, some times a low fat fry up is ok. Whatever your preference sit down and have at least a small meal. Once again this time can be used to focus on your positive affirmations. Enjoy telling yourself how good you are whilst at the same time savoring your food.
Read something inspiring.
Take 10 minutes to read. Inspiring reading material will motivate you and get your ready for the day. Meditating for 10 minutes can also have the same effect.
Reflect on your goals.
Take 5 minutes to reflect and review your goals. Goals that are written down and regularly reviewed are more likely to be met. Make the review of your goals a priority.
Start the day on the attack.
Now you can get out there and accomplish something. Why would you not be successful? Carry on thinking positively for as long as you can, you will find that your positivity lasts a little longer each day.
The routine outlined above will take around 90 minutes to complete. If you don’t have that amount of time, use it as a starting point and develop your own abbreviated version. The key is to make a start. A well planned morning routine will significantly impact your life, happiness, and success. Try it and see how it affects your day.
