Work will always be there, time with your family is far more important.

Spend your time thriftily on productive tasks, but generously on loved ones.

As you look at your sleeping infant, your mind rushes me forward in time. You see your child beginning school with excited anticipation. You move forward to the first school dance, the prom, graduation, and then you watch your little one begin their own life as they walk down the aisle.

Do you realise how precious the time you spend with them is, if so, choose to focus your time and energy on what is important – time with your loved ones.

There are certain things that you have to spend your time on. You have to spend time working to afford the life that you desire for your family. You have to spend time on routine daily tasks to ensure a clean and healthy life as well.

By using good time management skills, you will be able to accomplish the tasks that need to be accomplished so that you can spend quality time with your loved ones.

Strive to organise your time effectively because you can then enjoy spending time with your family. Enjoying the time you have to talk and enjoying each other’s company. Develop an attitude that allows you to work to live and not live to work.

Today, manage your time effectively so that you are able to accomplish your tasks and goals and still have an abundance of time to spend with your family and loved ones. Your life should be enriched by the time you spend with loved ones. Let go of the obsession to work and do less important tasks that will always be there anyway!

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Have I wasted time by obsessing on tasks?
  2. Have I managed my time to allow time for my loved ones?
  3. Am I working to live or living to work?

  1. Great post. When I was younger I read or heard something that said, people are more important than things. It has stuck with me till this day. Thanks for the reminder.

  2. I just stopped by from the UBC. I completely agree. I have given up so much “work time” as well as money in order to spend more quality time with my family. I was fortunate enough to realize early that I will never get those days back. I feel it has made us a stronger family. Now, both boys graduated high school last month and are looking forward to starting their own lives and in some respects already have. I nearly lost my youngest son and my husband in two different car accidents that happened days apart. It has renewed my feelings that life is too short so I cherish the time I still have with them and always will. My husband and I have been together for 22 years now. I also cherish every minute I can there as well.

    Thank you for sharing,
